On 31 May 2011, the QCA released its final decision on notified electricity prices for 2011-12.
The QCA calculated prices would increase by 6.60% between 2010–11 and 2011–12, compared to an estimated increase of 5.83% at the time of its draft decision.
The increase in prices would have been 8.31% had it not been for a decision by the Queensland Government to limit the amount of revenue it would allow Energex and Ergon Energy to collect in 2011–12 as a result of a decision by the Australian Competition Tribunal.

On 17 December 2010, the QCA released its draft decision on the 2011-12 BRCI.
The QCA applied the same framework it has used in previous BRCI decisions, and the draft increase in electricity prices for 2011-12 was 5.83%. Changes to the federal government’s Renewable Energy Target (RET) scheme accounted for 2.91 percentage points of the increase.

On 23 September 2010, we released an interim consultation notice in relation to the 2011-12 BRCI seeking submissions from interested parties. Submissions closed on 11 October 2010.
On 21 September 2010, the Minister for Natural Resources, Mines and Energy and Minister for Trade issued a certificate of delegation to the QCA requesting that it undertake the Benchmark Retail Cost Index (BRCI) process for 2011-12. The certificate of delegation can be accessed below.
